Yes at a pound each, you might consider them a little pricey but I’ve paid more for a lot less scrumptious as these. Not getting too much Prosecco out of them but the pink chocolate tastes like of old. Lovely packaging and would definitely make a lovely little gift, if I didn’t eat them first.

I remember as a kid that boxes of chocolate were the ultimate pinnacle of indulgence. Back then (the 80's) we basically had milk tray or black magic to choose from, and if we were lucky maybe one box of each would enter the household per year. Parents didnt buy them for themselves they were purchased as gifts, so it was a real treat to be offered a chocolate from one of these boxes. I would spend an age studying the map to see which I would choose; the fudge, no, the caramel! All I knew for certain is that the strawberry and coffee creams would always be the last lonely chocolates remaining in the box, like the fat kid being picked for sports. As an adult, I still get that sense of wonder and delight from a box of chocolates, although nowadays there are so many more varieties to choose from, be it Hotel Chocolat, Lily o Briens or Dairy box. I judge artisan chocolates simply by their ability to have a standalone menu leaflet in the box. Any brand who print the list on the bottom of the tray are basically maniacs. Cocoa is expensive now, 4 times what it was a couple of years ago. So paying a lot of money for a few chocolates doesnt necessarily mean quality, just inflation! I purchased these predominantly to decorate a pink themed cake I was asked to make, along with some pink macarons (which were also incredibly expensive). Under normal circumstances I would expect a lot more pieces for £5, but I paid for the privilege of having pink chocolates quickly. I only used 3 so there were 2 left to try for myself. They were ok. The chocolate was sweet and creamy and the filling was flavorful. were they worth a fiver? Definitely not. It is a shame that the photograph of the hand holding the box is slightly misleading due to the angle of the box it appears taller than it actually is, despite the dimensions clearly being displayed on the picture. You would needs to be balancing the box on its edge to achieve the same angle in real life. The seller is stretching the limits of artistic license with this. People buy with their eyes and many cant imagine what a 6cm square box looks like, but I will tell you, its small. I havnt heard of the Holdsworth brand before and I probably wont seek them out again. These are mass produced chocolates with no handemade detailing whatsoever. If i was going to spend £1 on a single chocolate I would expect someone to painstakingly hand paint the chocolate on. When it comes to treats you want to feel value for money. I dont mind spending money on quality chocolate, but this was unfortunately excessive. The box itself is quite giftable, providing you want the recipient to think you spend £2 on their gift. Imagine how many rum balls you could get for a fiver, now thats a chocolate!

Ordered as a stocking filler for a loved one but when they arrived the use by date was January.Going by the box I guess these were left over from last Valentine’s Day so I looked inside the box and even in the cellophane the chocolates did not look good Luckily I opened them and tasted one they were stale the centres were hard and dry like a Malteser Thank goodness I did not gift them how embarrassing would that have been ! I don’t think the makers of this top end brand of these chocolates would be happy.,
